The participating partners from politics (Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety), industry (Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, E-Plus, Telefonica, Teqport, Vere, Take-e-way, Electrocycling) and science (IASS Potsdam, Wuppertal Institute and Leuphana) were all agreed that a project of this kind needs to be set up in such a way that it is sustainable over the long term and must be able to produce visible and relevant results in order to change personal behaviour and awareness.

"The raw material expedition" collection campaign of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)

In collaboration with all German network operators, 65,090 mobile phones were collected at schools throughout Germany. This was the first time that all network operators (Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, O2, E-Plus) and the scientific and political community joined forces to run a campaign of this kind. Our special thanks go to Ms Gehring of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for her commitment in instigating a collection of this nature.
